Save trees, pictures, movies and models.


There are a number of ways to save your work in Little Stick.

Save a tree for further editing in Little Stick

Save a picture of a tree

Save a Movie of a tree blowing in the wind

Save a model of the tree

Save a sequence of tree models blowing in the wind

Write a program to import Little Stick trees using the Compact binary format.


Save a tree for further editing in Little Stick

Choose "Save" or "Save As..." in the File menu.


Save a picture of a tree

1. Choose a tree to draw.

2. Enter the resolution in pixels into the Output Resolution boxes in the Tree Designer palette.

3. Select "Save Picture" from the File menu and a save dialog box will appear.

4. Choose a picture format from the "File Format" menu.

5. Choose any format specific options by clicking on the "Options" button.

6. If you only want the alpha layer check the "Export alpha only" box.

7. Click "OK" to save the picture.


Save a Movie of a tree blowing in the wind

1. Choose a tree to draw.

2. Enter the resolution in pixels into the Output Resolution boxes in the Tree Designer palette.

3. Animate the tree with wind.

4. Select "Save Movie" from the File menu and a save dialog box will appear.

5. Choose a movie format and save options from the "Export" and "Use" menus.

6. Customise the movie settings by clicking on the "Options..." button.

7. Click "OK" to save the movie. There will be a delay on slower computers depending upon the movie encoding chosen.


Save a model of the tree

1. Choose a tree to draw.

2. Select "Save Model" from the File menu and a save dialog box will appear.

3. Choose the 3D file format to export to from the "File Format" menu.

4. If you want to save the trees textures, check the box "Include textures". The textures will be saved in separate files in the same way as pictures of trees are saved. See Save a picture of a tree above.

5. Click "OK" to save the model.


If you are writing a program to import Little Stick trees, then perhaps the Compact binary format could come in useful.


To save a sequence of tree models blowing in the wind

1. Choose a tree to draw.

3. Animate the tree with wind.

2. Select "Save Model" from the File menu and a save dialog box will appear.

3. Choose the 3D file format to export to from the "File Format" menu.

4. If you want to save the trees textures, check the box "Include textures". The textures will be saved in separate files in the same way as pictures of trees are saved. See Save a picture of a tree above.

5. Click "Choose Folder" to choose a folder to save the sequence of model files to.

6. A model is generated for each frame of the animation and saved into the folder chosen. The number at the end of the file name denotes the frame number of the file.
